Curating "Ellie"

Since entering my final semester at Old Dominion University, I have completed several courses that included ePortfolio projects. Each one has helped me create and curate my digital image, and as my academic journey has evolved, my ePortfolio has grown alongside me. Normally, my approach to curation focused on adding new projects and essays to highlight the academic work I’ve accomplished. This time, however, I wanted to create an entirely new feeling within my page.

When I initially created my portfolio, I was a Strategic Communications major. My theme reflected this identity and focused on geometric shapes, bold blue and grey tones, and placed an emphasis on my skills in photography and my work as an emerging digital creator. However, as I’ve been in school I have felt deeply drawn towards relational classes that focused on interpersonal communication and mediating dynamics. Soon, my long-term goals shifted towards clinical mental health counseling, and I wanted my page to reflect that.

So, I have spent time in this curation repainting my image- transitioning my color palette to earthy greens and browns, softening my visual outlines, and revising biographical content throughout to reflect my flourishing interest in interpersonal connection and mental health support. As I’ve made these changes, my page has felt more like me. Every detail represents an emerging version of “Ellie”, and I am so excited to continue growing in this new direction as move forward professionally and personally.
